PACKING GUIDELINES

We want to store your belongings safely and securely and bring them back to you the way you left them.  In order for that to happen you need to properly pack them.  Failure to do so risks potential damage that we are not responsible for.  Here are some guidelines for you to follow:

All boxes and containers must be sealed.  Boxes must be taped on the top and bottom.  Boxes that have the flaps folded over will not be accepted.  If you’re not sure how to tape a box contact us for help.  Any unsealed containers with us waives any claims to lost items.

Use packing tape on boxes.  Duct tape will be accepted but no other tape is strong enough for a move.

Pack your boxes to evenly distribute the weight.  Fill all the spaces so items are not shifting in the move.  Good filler items are clothing, bedding and towels.  Layer breakable items between clothing and bedding for extra padding. DO NOT PUT ALL YOUR TEXT BOOKS IN ONE BOX.  IF YOU CAN’T LIFT IT WE CAN’T LIFT IT.

Re-Used boxes must be sturdy and close completely.

LABEL, LABEL, LABEL!  Tape the printable form that we provide to the sides of your boxes.  Write your name, contract # and phone number on all items.  You can never label too much!

Mark all boxes with electronics as FRAGILE in large letters in multiple places.

Tape cords to the item so that are not dangling.

Particle Board Furniture is not made for moving.  It is best if you break down these items and store the pieces as one unit.  If you do not break the item down we will do our best to move it safely but are not liable for damage.

APPLIANCES:

Refrigerators: MUST be defrosted and empty.  Make sure to leave the door open so that it has time to dry.  We are not responsible for mold growth if the unit hasn’t been properly prepared for moving.  A fee of $25 will be charged for any refrigerator that hasn’t been defrosted.

Microwaves: MUST be clean inside and out.  It is best if you pack the turntable in one of your boxes.  If not packing the turntable then it must be taped down inside.  We are not responsible for damage if it is not properly secured.

FURNITURE:

Desks, Dressers, Nightstands and End Tables:  Drawers must be emptied.  If drawers are full additional fees may apply.

Rugs:  MUST be vacuumed, rolled and taped securely.  If multiple rugs are rolled together make sure to tape the ends.  We are not responsible for damage caused by rolling damp rugs.

Bookcases:  If shelves are removable, remove them and tape together so they can be moved as one piece.  Make sure to label the shelves and the bookcase.

Foam Mattresses:  MUST be rolled and taped as tightly as possible.  We are not responsible for damage for rolling a damp mattress.

Futons:  Breakdown the frame, fold the cushion and secure as one piece.

Mattresses:  HIGHLY RECOMMEND a mattress bag to ensure that your mattress stays clean.  Contact us to purchase.  An additional fee will apply if we bag the mattress.  We have the right to refuse any bedding that we deem as unsanitary.

Bed frames:  Bed frames MUST be broken down and secured as one piece.

Sofas and Love seats:  WE DO NOT MOVE HIDE-A-BEDS OR PULL OUT COUCHES.  We have the right to refuse any furniture that we deem as unsanitary.

Plastic Drawers:  Remove wheels and place inside of drawers.  Tape all drawers shut.  If items are left in drawers make sure that they can be lifted without falling apart.   Additional fees may apply if they are not sturdy.

Plastic Totes and Storage Trunks:  Lids must be securely taped on plastic totes.  Storage trunks need to have a secure latch.  Label these items!  An additional fee will be charged for items over 50 lbs!

ELECTRONICS:

Printers:  Must be stored in a box.

TVs and Computer Monitors:  If possible store in the original box and packing materials.  If not using the original box make sure to use a box that fits the item and protect it with soft packing materials such as clothing, towels or bedding.  Write FRAGILE in multiple places on the box in big letters.  Contact us if you do not have boxes for these items.

MISC:

Garbage bags will not be accepted.

Place a sheet of paper with your name, phone number and contract number inside all your boxes, totes, trunks and drawers in case the labels come off.

Make sure to pad all your fragile items with soft padding on all sides.

All items need labels!

Check the weight of your items as you pack.  If you can’t lift it there will probably be an additional charge.

There will be a $20 packing fee if our movers have to package your belongings properly.

Label Everything!  You cannot label too much!

We are not responsible for lost assembly pieces for your furniture.  Make sure to bag all the screws, nuts and bolts and store in a safe place.  Do not leave them loose with the furniture pieces.
